Kota Lee Mondragon, age 2, passed away on August 12, 2025, in La Junta, Colorado. Born on May 2, 2023, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kota brought joy and laughter to those around him from the very beginning.

Though small in stature as the runt of the litter, Kota had a mighty spirit and an unforgettable personality. He was known for his playful energy—whether he was having the zoomies through the house, biting the wall with mischievous glee, or proudly running with his football. Dressing up was another favorite pastime that showcased his charm and sense of fun. Fierce yet loving, Kota had a habit of trying to bite everyone—not out of malice but as part of his spirited nature that endeared him to all who knew him.

Kota was deeply loved by his family: his mom Shanice Lopez; father Chuck Mondragon; sisters Genesis and Alaysia Mondragon; brothers Ezequiel Lopez-Chavez, Luciano Mondragon, and Gucci Mondragon; stepmom Alexandra Whatley; special friend Dulce Whatley; and grandma Patsy Romero. He now joins his brother Teflon Don in rest.

To those who knew him best, Kota was more than a pet—he was a handsome, funny companion and a true best friend. His memory will live on in every game of catch played and every joyful sprint across the yard.
