Colorado State Patrol Reports on Double Fatal Head-On Crash in Crowley County

Colorado State Patrol Troopers responded to a two-vehicle head-on crash on CO Highway 71 near mile post 42 in Crowley County on June 4, at 4:30 PM, according to the CSP Public Information Officer.

Vehicle Descriptions:

Vehicle 1: White Ford Edge 

Vehicle 2: Black RAM 1500 Pickup Truck

Crash Narrative:

The Ford Edge was traveling Southbound on CO Highway 71 near mile post 42. The RAM Pickup was traveling Northbound on CO Highway 71 near mile post 42.

The Ford Edge drove into the Northbound lane and collided with the RAM. The Ford rotated and came to rest blocking both lanes facing West. The RAM rotated and traveled off of the east side of CO Highway 71 and came to rest facing West in the ditch.

Both vehicles were ignited with both drivers inside the vehicles. Driver of the Ford Edge was a 31 year old female, driver of the RAM was a 56 year old male.

Both parties were pronounced dead on scene.

Crowley County Coroner's Office will release identity of the deceased once next of kin has been notified.

The Colorado State Patrol is currently investigating the crash.

The roadway was closed at approximately 4:30 PM and reopened at 10:36 PM, according to the Colorado State Patrol Public Information Officer.
