Aspen Acres Fire Prompts Evacuations and Highway 165 Closure in Custer County

Description: The Aspen Acres Fire in Custer County is estimated at 35 acres as strong, shifting winds impact the area. Evacuations have expanded to include residents along 12 Mile Road, Lazy Acres, Bishops Castle, and areas near Highway 165, with shelters open for residents, pets, and large animals.
Aspen Acres Fire Update 837am: The weather conditions are extreme and the two fires are growing rapidly. The worst fire is moving north and west to 12 mile road.
The smaller fire is near Isabel Lake.
The larger fire has exceeded our capacity in Custer and our partners in Rye and Pueblo, we have requested emergency assistance from the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control
As of 8:25 a.m. Evacuations now in effect for residents along 12 Mile Rd. The evacuation center in Pueblo County is set up at 1650 Cooper Place.
A shelter has been Wetmore Community Center, 95 County Rd. 393.
Several fire agencies are responding to a wildland fire near Aspen Acres in Custer County.
Residents from Aspen Acres along Hwy 165 to Old San Isabel Road are asked to evacuate.
