Minutes of the July 7 Meeting
Vice President Greg Holt called the meeting to order in the absence of Wayne. Greg led the Pledge of Allegiance. Fifteen members and six guests enjoyed ice cream before the call to order. Greg reported that Chuck Donkle is in the hospital in Denver.
Old Business
Fifteen cars entered the car show at Inspiration Field.
Six cars made the rounds at Evergreen Gardens and Casa del Sol. Barbara Walters thanked the club for driving through the complex so that everyone could view the cars. The men of Casa prepared a barbecue for the drivers.
Ben and Jimmie attended the Rocky Mountain Nationals in Pueblo. They met some Studebaker car owners who knew Donkle. Judy and Leonard also attended the show. The parade is on SECO News on Facebook.
Discussion followed about the workshops to be held at the September car show. These should be scheduled at specific times so viewers will know when to attend. The workshops should be 10-minute demonstrations and may include oil changing, tire changing, simple body work and similar topics.
The demonstrations and times should be listed on the flyer. Jimmie and Vicki are setting up the Pine Derby and will organize activities for children. A suggestion to promote the event on TTO was also considered.
Judy will contact Ivy regarding the food truck. Cars will enter the show from the south and exit to the north. This should be clearly marked.
New Business
July 18 is Missouri Days. Whoever arrives at the parade first should register the car club.
July 25 is Crowley County Days and the McMillan Car Show. Participants may still register at the gate.
Early Settlers Day is August 1. Leonard will register the club for the parade.
The June car cruise was attended by approximately 25 cars. The next cruise will be Wednesday, August 12. Participants will meet at 6:00 p.m. in Auggie’s parking lot. The cruise will travel to the Timpas School to view more of the current restoration work.
Greg reported that the Big Boy Locomotive, one of eight remaining and the only one fully restored, will stop in Kit Carson, Colorado, on August 27. The stop will be from 10:45 to 11:15 a.m.
Carrie received thanks for organizing the ice cream social in Wayne’s absence.
Auctions were held for several items, with proceeds going to the club.
